Say goodbye to your empty content calendar forever. Get 100s of ideas in just 5 minutes (free advanced prompt inside).

The big struggle: What the heck do we post next?

We’ve all been there. Stuck in the “what-to-post-next” loop. It’s exhausting. It’s the big hamsterwheel of content marketing.

This article is straight from my newsletter: AI Marketing Machine. Subscribe for weekly actionable AI guides for marketers.

Today I’ll go step-by-step over how to create an AI brainstorm machine, so you will never run out of content ideas again.

Steps to your AI-powered Brainstorm Machine

  1. Know Your Ingredients for Killer Content
  2. Gather target audience data
  3. Set the stage for your content matrix
  4. Use ChatGPT 4 to churn out ideas (use my free prompt)
  5. Pick the best ideas and refine them

1. Know your ingredients for killer content

First things first, you need the right ‘ingredients’ for effective content. This includes:

  • Target Audience: Who are you talking to?
  • Pain/Gain Points: What problems can you solve for them?
  • Content Pillars: What main topics will you focus on?
  • Content Formats: How-tos, case studies, etc.
  • Funnel Stages: From grabbing attention to encouraging action.
  • General content principles (optional)
  • CTA (optional)

Need Help? Ask ChatGPT or borrow some of my guidelines.

Our aim is to use this info to build a content matrix. ChatGPT will do more than just toss out random ideas; it’ll consider the guidelines we’ve set.

2. Gather target audience data

Your content won’t click if it doesn’t resonate with your audience. You need to know who your audience is and what they want. But don’t just think in terms of age or job title.

For example, if your target audience is moms between 25 and 55, consider the variety within that group. Some might be new moms juggling careers, while others may have older kids that are leaving for college. Very different pain & gain points there.

For example; I focus on these pain points:

“I don’t have time to learn AI, it would take too much time”

“AI seems very difficult and I’m not technical, so I’ll skip”

“I know that AI is probably valuable but I have no clue how to actually use it”

The gains would be what solves these pain points. Make sure you have a list of both the pain and gain points. We will use it in our prompt later.

3. Set the stage for your content matrix

Next up: Let’s add strategy to our content. Each piece should focus on these key elements for the best outcome:

Platform
Simply decide where your content will go. Is it for Facebook, Instagram Stories, or maybe TikTok shorts? Choose your stage.

Content pillar (more info here)
Pick the main topics you’ll focus your content on. These are your go-to subjects.

Funnel stage (more info here)
Top of Funnel → Grab attention. Get people curious about you or your brand.
Middle of Funnel → Build trust. Show you know your stuff.
Bottom of Funnel → Time for action. Get them to click, buy, or sign up.

Content formats
You likely have some go-to formats that are already a hit. No need to start from scratch each time. For instance:

  • How-Tos
  • Personal stories
  • Success stories
  • Case studies
  • Debunking myths

4. Use ChatGPT 4 to churn out ideas (use my free prompt)

Here’s the prompt you can use, just make sure you use your own details.

You're ContentbrainstormGPT. Your job is to come up with the best content ideas that are relevant and engaging for my target audience.My target audience: {INSERT GENERAL DESCRIPTION TARGET AUDIENCE}Their ideal situation: {INSERT THEIR IDEAL SITUATION}Their pain points:
- {POINT 1}
- {POINT 2}
Their gain points:- {POINT 1}
- {POINT 2}
These are the parameters I use when brainstorming content:
- Content pillar: {INSERT CONTENT PILLARS}
- The funnel stages: Top of Funnel (Awareness), Middle of Funnel (Interest), Bottom of Funnel (Conversion)
- Content formats:
- For ToF content: {INSERT CONTENT FORMATS}
- For MoF content: {INSERT CONTENT FORMATS}
- For BoF content: {INSERT CONTENT FORMATS}
Some guidelines for the content ideas:
- Each post must focus on 1 content pillar.
- Each post must focus on 1 specific pain point and solution.
- Be very creative. Go wild. Generic content ideas are not allowed.
Some tips for the formatting the content ideas
- The targetgroup before state
- The targetgroup end state
- The timeframe
- The pain point
- The pain point subtraction
- Adding curiosity & “power words”
Format your answers in a table format with the following columns:
- Content Pillar
- Pain point
- Gain point
- Funnel stage
- Content format
- Content idea
Think of the first 10 ideas.

5. Pick the best ideas and refine them

If your first batch of ideas aren’t hitting the mark, go deeper. Ask for more specificity or a different angle.

Want to make any adjustments, like adding a CTA or some general principles? Feel free to make the prompt your own.

Final tips: Make it a two-way conversation. ChatGPT learns from feedback.

- Give me 10 variations on idea “X”
- Give me 5 ideas for ToF content about pain point “X”
- I don’t like X about the ideas, give me 10 new ideas with more “X”

You’re very welcome for the time I just saved you.

BUT, it’s not free. You get to read all this great info at no cost, but you have to share it with your fellow marketers.
